Integral ChN-03 Electronic Watch

Here comes an INTEGRAL ChN-03/1.9, an old-school electronic watch from my collection, made by the Kamerton Factory located in a town called Pinsk in Belarus.


This one was manufactured as far back as in 2002. Of all the ChH-0Xs, the ChN-03 is the rarest. I have seen it in the flesh only once -- when I was buying it.



Maybe, it is not much to look at and has a usual array of features: normal time mode - seconds, minutes, hours, calendar - month, day, date, year; stopwatch; backlight; 12/24 time display mode; hourly signal, automatic correction; automatic winter-summer time change (can be turned off); and some basic melodies.

1970s ZiM 2602 Decorated Movement

A ZiM watch powered by an instance of the Pobeda / ZiM 2602 movement, decorated.



The watch has been in the family since 1975 at least. Note the green residue -- brass oxidization -- coming up even through the chrome plating (what's left of it).



Nothing much to see on the dial side, the acrylic crystal is all cracked so I am not even showing it... in order not to distract from the movement.



The movement is decorated... even the inside of the back is decorated for good measure using the Perlage (Perlée) technique.



The ZiM / Pobeda 2602 movement used to power the cheapest and most mass-produced watch in the USSR. Yet the movement itself is far from cheap. It is closely related to the premium Euro watches of the 1930s-40s which is easy to see especially in this decorated version as opposed to later variants (the movement was produced well into the 2000s).



One step above it in collectors' hierarchy is a Pobeda 2602 dated movement, this one is ZiM's undated movement.









If you look closely you will see that not only the bridges are decorated -- striped but the underlying plate is finely decorated too.

Casing jam berbentuk semi persegi dengan sudut-sudut yang membulat. Desain casing seperti ini lazim digunakan dan mulai muncul di tahun awal 70-an. Kombinasi antara casing berbentuk semi kotak dan penampang dial yang bulat terlihat menarik karena menggabungkan 2 bentuk dasar yang berbeda. Awalnya saya mengira casing jam ini sudah dipoles sehingga terlihat brushed finished. Setelah saya pelajari dengan melihat literaturnya di internet, tipe JLC ini memang menggunakan finishing casing brushed dan bukan polished. salah satu bagian yang di polished adalah bagian bezel (yang menempel dengan mika jam) dan case back. Jam ini memiliki 2 buah crown. Crown bagian atas untuk menyetel central disc alarm dan mengisi tenaga untuk membunyikan alarm. Crown yang bawah untuk melakukan penyesuaian jarum jam dan tanggal. Setiap crown terdapat logo JL yang menunjukkan bahwa crown adalah original.





Rantai jam ini menggunakan model seperti desain sebuah gelang dan uniknya, rantai ini tidak memiliki claps seperti halnya rantai jam biasa. Lebar lug adalah 20mm dan mungkin akan terlihat lebih klasik kalau menggunakan tali kulit. Pada ujung rantai terdapat pengait dengan logo JL.
